About us

Rooted in community. Powered by young people.

Internet4All Burundi is a youth-led initiative that turns existing community spaces into digital learning hubs. We believe that where someone lives should not limit their access to knowledge and opportunity.

Community first

Every hub is co-designed with local leaders and residents to meet real needs.

Practical impact

We focus on skills people can use immediately: research, communication, and online services.

Youth leadership

Young facilitators run training and support, building local capacity with every session.

Open access

Free internet and learning resources are available to everyone in the surrounding area.

Meet the founder

Eddy Kubwimana

Eddy started Internet4All Burundi after his personal experience with how unreliable and costly internet access kept people in rural communities from learning, working, and reaching essential online services.

In 2020, Eddy was part of Tujenge scholar Program. Due to COVID-19, The Tujenge learning center closed down. He returned to his community with a laptop and tablet. The cellular network in shombo - his birthplace - could not allow him to download learning materials and attend class regularly. He missed out many opportunities but fortunately, in 2021, he secured a Mastecard foundation scholarship to pursue computer science.

After 4 years at Ashesi university in Ghana, he returned in his community and found that nothing has changed concerning the internet reliability in his community. He began in Shombo with a practical idea: equip an existing community space with reliable internet and help local people build the skills to use it.

That first hub showed what becomes possible when connectivity is paired with patient, hands-on training. His vision is to grow this community-led model across rural Burundi so that a person’s location never limits their access to knowledge and opportunity.

Our story

From one hub in Shombo to a national vision.

We started with a simple observation: in rural Burundi, reliable internet is a luxury, and digital skills are out of reach for many young people and local workers. Our first hub in Shombo proved that a community space, a stable connection, and a trained facilitator can change that.

Today, more than 90 people have completed basic digital skills training. Students use the hub for school research. Entrepreneurs connect with customers. Public workers access online government services. And a new generation of young facilitators is learning to lead.
